Daft Punk Features Star-Crossed Lovers in “Instant Crush” Video

Daft Punk shows that mannequins can feel love in the new video for "Instant Crush," a cut from their latest album, Random Access Memories.

The nearly six-minute video, which features vocals from The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas, tells the story of a pair of wax figures on display in a museum that fall in love, but are kept away from each other. The male figure, which bears a strong resemblance to Casablancas, is eventually moved to a warehouse for storage and removed from the sight of the female figure, who is dressed as a milk maid. The video ends with a fire breaking out in the warehouse, and the male mannequin being reunited with the female figure as they slowly melt together. The couple’s love story also features footage of Casablancas singing the song on a platform.

Daft Punk recently released a deluxe box set of Random Access Memories, which is filled with a number of collectibles, including a special edition double-LP vinyl copy of Random Access Memories, two sets of robot design schematics, a 70-mm motion picture film strip containing five sequential frames from the original production dailies of the “Lose Yourself to Dance” video and a 56-page photo book of images from theRandom Access Memories' recording sessions and film shoots. The deluxe box set will run you $275 and is available now at MyPlayDirect.com.
