Stone Sour is hitting the road in 2014 for another leg of tour dates to promote their double album, House of Gold and Bones, but they won’t be taking guitarist Jim Root along with them. The band revealed in a note on their Facebook page that Root will be dropping out of the upcoming outing so he can focus on working on Slipknot’s next studio album.
“With an impending Slipknot album on the horizon, Jim will not be touring with Stone Sour this winter,” writes the group. “Everyone involved is okay with the decision and our mutual friend Christian Martucciwill be filling in on guitar. It was a difficult decision, but as the fans have wanted another Stone Sour tour and Jim had responsibilities to the writing process with Slipknot, we feel this is the best decision where everyone wins.”
Stone Sour’s North American trek begins on January 14 at the House of Blues Orlando in Lake Buena Vista, FL, and will make stops in New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Chicago among other cities. Pop Evil and Stolen Babies will support the band at all the upcoming gigs.
