Imagine Dragons Win Alternative Rock Honors at American Music Awards

Imagine Dragons took home the trophy for favorite alternative rock artist Sunday night at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles.  It’s the band’s first American Music Award.

After Dave Grohl and Joan Jett presented the band with the award at the Nokia Theatre in L.A., lead singer Dan Reynolds addressed the crowd, saying, “We’ve been a band for five years and to be here at the American Music Awards is…very surreal to us. I feel very nervous. This is not a world we are used to…”

Speaking on behalf of the band, Reynolds thanked their record label, their families and their fans.

The band also performed a medley of "Demons" and "Radioactive."

The group was also nominated in the categories of New Artist of the Year and Favorite Band, Duo or Group — Pop/Rock but came away empty-handed.

Taylor Swift was the night's big winner.  She collected four trophies at the ceremony, including the prestigious Artist of the Year award, for a record third time.  All in all, she's now won 14 American Music Awards.
